Meeting came to order Monday, February 26, 2007 at 7PM at the Melrose Public Library

 

Secretary: 

 

January 2007   meeting minutes accepted.  Reviewed action items

 

Fundraisers:

 

            Saving Card program was presented by Chris Lechter.

·        Lechters’ group solicits discounts from local merchants and these are listed on the back of the card

·        Lecter gets 35%,  Melrose Soccer gets 65% of Card sale proceeds.

·        Card Cost is $10.00 each

·        Cards are distributed ( by coaches) to the registered players    ( 3-5 cards per kid)

·        Kids return list of  people that purchased the cards and return money and unsold cards.

·        Funraiser lasts for 2 ˝ weeks

·        Volunteer needed to collect money and work with Lechter.

 

            Yearbook

·        Promoter was delayed and  showed up 45 minutes late.

·        Board told him that we could not fit him into the agenda and he would need to readdress the subject at a future date.

 

            Discussion ensued after the presentation regarding the need for a fundraiser and it was voted that No  fundraising activities will be entertained  until the Fall 2007 season.

                       

Matt Medugno

·        Presented questions as to the staus of the Travel Coaches from Serino

·        4 out of 6 have submitted the needed information as of this date. Stoker & Thelen photos & Cori not complete

·        Matt requested Coach Contacts & Roster info. HE was told we would be having a coach’s meeting in Melrose within the next 2 weeks and the Middlesex league meeting will take place on March 28 & 29th at Joyce Middle School in Woburn. He and the ither 3  HS coaches have been added to coaches list and will be included in all future communications.

·        Indoor rental space will be secured this week for preseason indoor  team practices.

 

 

Registrar Items

Nothing new to report.  Total of 637 kids registered to date.  :

 

Gary raised the idea of holding coach meetings mid-season to discuss general items, offer practical tips, reinforce rules and regulations etc..

 

Gary will propose specific skills  for benchmarking player progress  during the season and preparing players for tryouts.

Field Coordinator

            Dennis  provided  an upodate as to the Spring 2007 field Status

 

Port O Potties

 

Motion was made to approve rental of 3 Potties @ $330.00 per month during April , May & June 2007. The Franklin  Field , Pine Banks Turf and West side Knoll will have 1 toilet each.  Motion was unanimously approved. Tom Will make sure MYS will receive a separate invoice for the three units( not to be bundled with Baseball league rentals).

Referee Coordinator

·        Steve Finley volunteered to assume the role of  Referee Assignor/ Coordinator. This position was recently vacated by Michele Maure who has agreed to assist in the Transition. Steve agreed to complete the certification course and will begin in time for the Spring 2007 season, (Thank You Steve )

 

Melrose By Laws

 

·        Tom Russell reviewed the  latest document and proposed two modifications:

·        501 Clause will be deleted

·        Voting members were discussed and approved to number 13 total and a majorityof voting members will be required to be present at future meetings in order to conduct  business.

·        Tom will rewrite and distribute the final approved version.
